One of the BTF’s projects involves supporting people with hypothyroidism, and taking into account their views to help improve patient care. Hosting a survey on behalf of a pharmaceutical company to find out patients’ feelings about taking levothyroxine tablets was a way in which to gain knowledge of patients’ needs and concerns so that information and services to patients can be improved.

Amdipharm Mercury (AMCo) carried out an online levothyroxine tablet survey that was hosted on the British Thyroid Foundation website from 3 December 2014 to 15 February 2015. This survey was anonymous and conducted in line with the Data Protection Act and all the ethical policies which apply to surveys of this kind in the UK.

This activity was initiated and reviewed by AMCo. AMCo developed the questions in conjunction with the BTF and the results have been reviewed for accuracy by both parties.

A summary of the results can be found here.
